It's built to last of a solid 3 4lbs. chunk of brass, with a global neodymium magnet that attaches the Snareweight to the hoop and to the interchangeable leather insert at the same time. This is all you need if you have a triple flange rim. Try a household magnet on your hoop to make sure it has iron in it to insure this
