Yes, I put it in a 2002 Subaru WRX bugeye with an EJ257 block and EJ205 heads.
And yesâthis oil absolutely slaps.
This engine is not stock, not delicate, and definitely not living an easy life. It sees spirited driving, boost, and the occasional questionable decision. After switching to Mobil 1 0W-40, cold starts are smoother, oil pressure is rock solid, and the motor just feels happier. No weird noises, no drama, no oil consumption surprises.
The viscosity is perfect for a performance Subaru build, especially if youâre running tighter tolerances or want strong protection under heat and load. Itâs thick enough when hot, flows great when cold, and inspires confidence every time I turn the key.

Does my Subaru care? Not even a little.
