I bought this book initially because the author/illustrator is from my hometown, and because he is one of the best illustrators on the planet. I thought it would be cute - and it is adorable, but it really hits home. I am a mom who has a young adult child and one teenager. The time is quickly approaching when they will leave the nest and the story of the little tree holding tightly to his leaves just brought me to tears.
